An extraordinary weekend in Bucharest

L'Étape Romania was once again a real community event. The start village and start line were set up in Constitution Square, facing the Palace of the Parliament, with a friendly atmosphere and a wide mix of riders on the start line: seasoned competitors, families and first-timers shared the road, representing around twenty countries.

Three routes were on offer: City Adventure (14 km), The Ride (37 km) and The Race (75 km). What makes L'Étape Romania unique within the L'Étape Series is its course: entirely flat and set in the heart of the city, it allows riders to reach very high speeds, a rare experience on the circuit. This layout also makes it one of the most accessible races in the series, with routes suited to every level, from beginners to seasoned competitors. On all three distances, riders enjoyed closed roads, passing some of the city's most beautiful landmarks along the way.

The results

The Race

In the men's race, the finish came down to a sprint: a group of around twenty riders contested the win right up to the line. Kostadin Kostadinov took the victory and the yellow jersey in 1:47:21, ahead of Roberto-Adrian Micsa and Marian Frunzeanu.

In the women's race, Kateryna Kalashlinska broke away and was never caught, soloing to victory in 1:52:42, ahead of Andreea Gabriela Tariuc and Cecilia Dalvaru.

The Ride

In the men's race, Nikolay Yovchek Kolev won in 54:22, edging out Flavius Pavel Enescu in a two-up sprint, with Krasimir Glushkov completing the podium.

In the women's race, Cristina Maria Sprinceana won in 57:29, ahead of Gabriela Bucur and Claudia Ene.
