The Grand Départ Pays Basque marches unveil their designs inspired by the tradition and culture of the Tour de France.

The Vitoria Cycle Tour, L'Étape Bilbao by Tour de France and the Donostia-Baiona-Donostia will respectively feature the green, yellow and polka dot jerseys, which identify the Tour's grand prix winners.

The arrival of the Tour de France is a great opportunity to show the passion that has been felt and breathed in the Basque Country for cycling for years. To mark the start of the Tour de France 2023 in Bilbao, the Grand Départ Pays Basque has decided to promote the creation of an exclusive edition of "L'ÉTAPE BILBAO BY TOUR DE FRANCE", an unrepeatable cycling tour that will follow the same route as the opening day of the race on 11 June.

Fans of the two-wheeled world can become the main protagonists, days before the professional peloton passes through our roads. The Grand Départ Pays Basque is the culmination of the dream of hosting and enjoying the Tour de France to the full in our towns, villages and roads.

With the aim of making both the general public and the txirrindulari fans feel part of this huge celebration, the Grand Départ Pays Basque has been involved in the creation of a replica march of the first stage of the Tour de France (L'Étape Bilbao by Tour de France). A unique and different event, as there are many cycle touring rallies, but very few reproduce a stage of the Tour. In addition to collaborating in the development of two special editions of two traditional races in the Basque calendar, the Donostia-Baiona-Donostia and the Vitoria Cycle Tourist Race.

"L'ÉTAPE BILBAO BY TOUR DE FRANCE" will have three distances; 'Official', identical to the first stage of the Tour de France 2023 with 185 km, to which must be added 11 km of neutralised section (total 196 km of route). Medium' with 157 km of route and a positive difference in altitude of 2,869 m, and finally, 'Lite' with 124 km, 116 km of which run along the same route as the Tour de France. Both the start and finish of the three events follow the same route as the first stage of the 'Grande Boucle' 2023.

Within this great celebration that unites cycling and Tour de France, so that the participants can wear exclusive garments of this historic milestone, the bet has been inspired by the deep tradition of the 'Grande Boucle', a major challenge that saw the light for the first time in 1903 and that since then has not ceased to write great and epic stories of cycling, effort and passion, a lot of passion.

The colour yellow as well as the ikurriña and the identifying symbols of the Grand Départ Pays Basque and the Ongi eTOURri could not be missing in the three outfits as a nexus of union. The Bilbao race, which follows the same route as the opening day of the race, displays the colour yellow on the collar and right sleeve, in homage to the jersey that identifies the leader of the race, established in 1919. The jersey of the Donostia-Baiona-Donostia, which includes the always spectacular Jaizkibel climb, features the red polka dots, which have distinguished the leader of the mountain classification since 1975. And in 1953 the green jersey was created, which distinguishes the winner of the prestigious green jersey as the winner of the points or regularity classification. The participants of the Vitoria Cycle Tourist Race will be able to wear this exclusive jersey.

With this series of three jerseys, produced exclusively by Santini (official supplier of the French round), which perfectly symbolise the arrival of the Tour de France in the Basque Country, the participants who take the start in any of the cycling tours will be able to enjoy and feel part of an occasion that will be historic, keeping a race that will be a faithful witness of their pedalling in the Grand Départ Pays Basque.
