A two-distance challenge for all riders
Participants had the choice between two carefully designed routes:
-
104 km with approximately 1,500 m of elevation gain, designed for those seeking a serious challenge in a pro-style setting.
-
29 km, a more accessible route, perfect for riders looking to enjoy the beauty of the lake.
Both routes took advantage of the lake’s majestic setting — winding roads along shimmering waters, lush green hills, and dramatic vistas. The event’s location is celebrated as one of the most beautiful cycling trails in the world.
Scenic routes, memorable moments
Riders on the 104km route confronted more serious climbs and higher demands, while the 29km option unfolded along the lake’s tranquil shores, passing through spots like Ita Thao Pier and Xuanguang Temple.
The surrounding landscape delivered. From the lake’s emerald surface to the shading mountains that rise around it, the setting reinforced the event’s dual appeal of athletic challenge and tourism-friendly beauty. The route itself is part of a network of cycling paths around Sun Moon Lake, recognized globally for their quality.
A guest-star : Jasper Philipsen
This edition stood out thanks to the presence of pro cyclist Jasper Philipsen, the Belgian sprinter and multiple Tour de Frane stage winner who generously engaged with fans and took part in the event activities. His availability and enthusiasm added a special dimension: for many amateurs, it’s rare to share the road or village atmosphere with a rider of his calibre
Atmosphere & community
The start-village buzz was reminiscent of major international races: flags fluttered, riders stretched and smiled, clubs from different countries mingled, and spectators cheered both the competitive and the ride portions. With 2,600 cyclists, the event achieved a lively yet well-managed scale, providing an authentic Tour de France experience in Asia.
