L’Étape Costa Rica by Tour de France: 600 cyclists in the heart of volcanic landscapes
At exactly 5 a.m. this morning, 600 cyclists set off from Mall Paseo Metropoli in Cartago, a city near Costa Rica’s capital, to experience the unique L’Étape Costa Rica by Tour de France. Two routes were on the program: The Race (122 km) and The Ride (52 km).
After the start, participants headed toward the winding roads of the volcanic Turrialba region, where the intermediate sprint took place, before continuing to the Orosi Valley. There, the Safetti fan zone came alive, bringing together numerous fans who cheered on the cyclists and soaked up the special Tour de France atmosphere in its Costa Rican version.
