True Tour de France atmosphere in Norway : amazing 1st edition of l’Etape Trondheim
Saturday, June 13th 2026 was a day of pure Tour de France atmosphere in Northern Europe, with the first edition of L’Étape Trondheim by Tour de France. Trondheim, 3rd Norwegian biggest city, decorated itself in yellow to welcome the event. With a festive event Village on the city Main Square and a route mixing stunning landscapes along the Trondheimsfjord & hilly routes in the heart of Trondheim region gathering all local communities cheering on them, participants enjoyed an authentic Tour de France-style experience.
More than 4000 participants and Tour de France guests
The event gathered more than 4000 participants, including 800 children participating in the Kids Race, placing itself as one the biggest event of the Series as of its first edition. Participants could choose between different formats, with the Race (130km and 1600m elevation gain) as queen stage of the event, but also the more accessible Ride (75km and 1100m elevation gain)
Tour de France experience was not only present in Trondheim with fully closed roads, battle for Tour de France distinctive jerseys and Tour de France museum in the Village, but also with the presence of some riders of the Uno-X men and women team, including Tour de France stage winner Jonas Abrahamsen and Tour de France Femmes rider Anne Dorthe Ysland. Participants and spectators had the opportunity to visit the Uno-X Team bus who parked itself on the event Village during the whole event.
In addition, the event welcomed the 11-time Winter Olympic champion Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, for whom cycling represents an important part of his off-season preparation
Norwegian amateur riders chasing Jonas Abrahamsen
The event also offered a strong battle between top Norwegian amateur riders, who tried the whole race to chase a chase pack lead by Jonas Abrahamasen, who took L’Etape as one of the ultimate big training session before the 2027 Tour de France.
The men Race was won by Håvard Gjeldnes and the women Race was won by Grete Skaret Larsen
As for all l’Etape Series events, top 3 riders of the Race are automatically qualified for l’Etape du Tour de France 2027 through l’Etape Championship program, and all participants will get access to an exclusive registration period for the ultimate cycling challenge, through the L’Etape Reward program.
