Hi Alex! Could you briefly introduce yourself and tell us about your background in cycling?

My name is Alex Destribois-Coudroy, and I am from Thailand and Laos. I currently ride for the Komkom Team in Thailand. Cycling has been a huge part of my life for many years, and representing Laos internationally, including at the Olympic Games, has been one of my proudest achievements.

Cycling is still a developing sport in Laos. How difficult was it to build your career and reach the international level?

Building a career and reaching the international level was not always easy as cycling is still developing in Thailand and Laos. Indeed, we did not have the same opportunities or support systems as in Europe, but I always believed in hard work, consistency, and passion for the sport.

What does the Tour de France represent to you?

For me, the Tour de France is the most important race in the world for cyclists. Every rider dreams about it. When I was younger, it was a dream just to imagine being part of the Tour de France atmosphere. Today, thanks to L’Étape du Tour de France, amateur riders can experience the same roads, the same mountains, and the same passion as the professional cyclists in France.

Is there a specific Tour de France stage or moment that left a strong impression on you?

One of my strongest Tour de France memories is always the big mountain stages in the Alps and the Pyrenees: the atmosphere, the crowds, and the history of the race are something truly special and inspiring for every cyclist. One of the things I really appreciate is how ASO organizes L’Étape events not only in France, but also in places like Taiwan, Thailand, and many other countries. It gives amateur riders and cycling fans a huge opportunity to challenge themselves and experience the spirit of the Tour de France.

Who is your favourite rider ?

My idols growing up were Alberto Contador, Andy Schleck, and Lance Armstrong. I always loved mountain stages and aggressive climbing style, so naturally I became more of a climber type rider. Climbing has always been my favorite part of cycling.

Are you ready to face 5400m elevation gain in July in L’Etape du Tour de France 2026?

Right now, I have already started training hard for L’Étape du Tour 2026. I’m spending a lot of time training in the mountains and also building a new lightweight bike especially for this event. My goal is to perform at my best and hopefully fight for a podium or at least a top 5 result. I’m very motivated and excited for the challenge, especially with such a demanding course and 5400m of climbing.

Through which event did you qualify for the L'Etape Championship 2026?

I have been qualified in Taiwan at L’Etape Sun Moon Lake by winning both the KOM jersey and Yellow Jersey.

Finally, when was your first L’Étape Series event? And why would you recommend participating in a L’Etape Series event?

My first L’Étape Series experience was unforgettable because it allowed me to feel connected to the Tour de France world while riding together with passionate cyclists from many different countries. That is why I would definitely recommend participating in an L’Étape Series event . it’s not only a race, but also a unique life experience and a real challenge for every cyclist.

Thank you very much Alex and see you in Alpe d'Huez!
